What’s particularly fun about my vocation is that I get to design vicariously through my clients’ projects.  This project was exceptionally fun, since these are materials I might pick for myself if I were starting over from scratch.  Projects are especially enjoyable when the impact is big.  In this case it was enormous.  Eliminating the walls enclosing her shower and replacing with frameless glass and heightening her shower tile dramatically enlarged her space.  The freestanding tub selection feels so decadent, I’m hoping for an invitation.  The sleek, full overlay cabinets finished in a dark espresso stain match the faucet and Roman tub handle inlays and the oversize chrome pulls provide the contrasting “punch”.

We started with a special purchase quartzite and selected all other materials based on that starting point.  It is impossible to tell that attention was paid to budget.  My client has been a friend for many years, and I’m happy to say she remained a dear friend from project start through completion.  Dust and noise tolerance was put to the test for both my client and her cat as this was one of three bathrooms we remodeled in sequence.  New wood floors, a new wood staircase and painting bedrooms and hallway were thrown into the project scope as well.  This client has definitely earned an “ideal client award”.
