“Ornate and overdone” is not my client’s style, so the fussy fireplace surround and mantel had to go.  Clean-looking 12×24 porcelain tile from floor to ceiling lifts the eye to take in the 14′ ceiling.  By eliminating unnecessary bookcases and clutter, we created space for original art and two additional accent chairs.  The Barbara Barry exposed wood chairs provide important seating space for a large blended family to gather in their favorite room.  Glass sculptural art, crystal and brass candlesticks, a folded brass wall sculpture and a gilded iron twig fireplace screen combine to provide a burst of glam.  The oversize, globe-shaped artisan-sculpted metal pendant light adds to the drama.
