This extraordinary laundry room services the needs of a large family in short order.  It also serves as an enticing workroom for my client’s love of sewing and crafting.

It wasn’t always this inviting.  New limestone floors with the tiniest of grout lines that begin at the front door now run contiguously into the sewing room.  Busy terracotta colored backsplash and countertop tile was replaced with beautifully veined, leathered Fantasy Brown marble.  The new smooth top eliminates the problem of straight pins piling up in wide grout lines.  An undermounted stainless sink also helps with ease of cleanup.  The Walker Zanger 2×6 Crema Brick backsplash lightens and renews the room.  Among the biggest of improvements was installing a new folding cabinet door that allows the sewing machine to be collapsed and tucked away into a hidden niche when not in use.

Laundry isn’t a pastime I aspire to, but I could be motivated to take up sewing in this space.
